Author // Jonathan Smith, CEcD Categories // Local News

YAKIMA, WA October 2018 – Small business owners from throughout the Yakima Valley received an overview of the most pressing Human Resources issues facing businesses in Washington.

Sarah Truglio, Small Business Advisor for Washington State Small Business Development Center network kicked off the workshop by providing an overview of the top HR related challenges she hears when meeting with business owners. The top issues included succession planning, successful job interviews, navigating regulations, and where to access up to date employment law information.

Roshelle Pavlin, Strategic HR Consultant for BBSI Yakima, took a deeper dive into each of these challenges and provided helpful tips and information that business owners could put into place in their operations.

An overview of the Yakima SHRM and SHRM national websites were provided highlighting the templates, toolkits, and sample policies and forms that are available to SHRM members.

One of the best resources for small business is the strength of the Yakima SHRM network. With over 120 HR professionals and monthly meetings and networking opportunities there is a chance for non HR business owners to meet, mingle, and have their most pressing HR questions answered.
